Registering with a professional organisation is important for Care Home Assistant Practitioners (CHAPs) to demonstrate competence for several key reasons:
1. Validation of Skills and Knowledge
2. Accountability and Public Trust
3. Professional Development and Standards
4. Improved Job Opportunities and Recognition
5. Legal and Ethical Compliance
6. Support and Education
By setting up this register we are beginning the process of gaining Care Home Assistant Practitioners, from Levels 3 - 5, the recognition you deserve.
Our register provides external validation of the knowledge and skills you have developed, which will improve your career progression as well as building trust in you and your skills by your clients and colleagues.
To join our Register, you should initially use our Contact form, we will then email you our application form to complete.
How much does it cost?
As long as you have a Certificate for CHAP training from within the last 2 years, there is no charge to join. If your certificate is over 2 years old, we will ask for evidence of updates, or you can opt to undertake our assessment to demonstrate your professional development and meeting of standards.
Professional registration serves as external validation that you meet recognised standards. It confirms that you possess the necessary clinical skills, knowledge, and ethical understanding required for the role of a CHAP.
Being part of a register demonstrates your agreement to be accountable for your actions, beyond the Skills for Care Code of Conduct. This helps build trust with residents, families, and colleagues, assuring them that the care you deliver is done so safely and responsibly.
Registration encourages ongoing learning and development. We require continued professional development (CPD), which helps you stay up-to-date with best practices and advances in care.
By being one of our Registered CHAP's you are able to demonstrate your increased level of knowledge and skills, as well as your dedication to ongoing professional development, which distinguishes you from unregistered staff and may lead to higher levels of responsibility or pay.
Entry onto our CHAP register demonstrates your compliance with the Skills for Care Code of Conduct, as well as your adherence to our Professional standards and CPD requirements, all of these build confidence in your professionalism and improve overall care quality.
Being part of our Register offers CHAPs access to our training provision at a reduced rate, as well as annual revalidation of knowledge and skills.
